sust-mar "sust-mar" is a "list-serve", an Internet service that allows people who are subscribers to a list to send email to all other subscribers at the same time. the chebucto community net hosts (provides server support for) sust-mar. financial support comes from occasional private donors. the volunteer moderator is paul falvo. subscribers to sust-mar include more than 250 people in the maritimes who are concerned with issues related to sustainable communities such as peace and social justice, protection of the environment, local economics. if your action group is working in any of these areas, sust-mar is a very effective tool for communicating with others who have similar interests. you can use sust-mar to increase awareness or ask for help with a project, issue or event, or to propose cooperative action. you can find an archive of messages to sust-mar here. you can become a subscriber to sust-mar by sending an email to majordomo@chebucto.ca with the words 'subscribe sust-mar' as the only words in the message. no need to include a subject line. you will begin receiving all postings to sust-mar, at the rate of one a day. you can take yourself off the list at any time by sending another email to 'majordomo@chebucto.ca' with the words 'unsubscribe sust-mar' as the only words in the message. if you'd prefer to receive a sust-mar digest in one email sent to you about every two weeks, send an email to majordomo@chebucto.ca with the words 'subscribe sust-mar-digest' as the only words in the message. sust-mar is a "moderated" list. that means that messages are not automatically sent to all subscribers, but are reviewed by a moderator (paul falvo), to ensure the message:
is in some way related to the sustainability of maritime communities;paul also organizes a priority system, with the most time-sensitive messages going first. so your message will not necessarily be sent to the list immediately. if your message is about an event, send it as much as possible in advance of the event as you can. if you want to send an email to paul, do not send it to sust-mar. send it to sust-mar-owner@chebucto.ca
if you intend to change or stop using your email address it is a courtesy to unsubscribe from any list you belong to using your old email address, and re-subscribe from your new one. otherwise messages to your "dead" address will bouce back and must be dealt with by the list moderator.
